Troubleshooting Audio Capture Setup in Berries

Learn how to optimize your setup to effectively capture audio in Berries.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

This article will guide you through optimizing your setup for both in-person and telehealth visits with Berries. By following these best practices for audio capture and device configuration, you’ll enhance Berries' performance, ensuring more accurate notes.

Best Practices

Element

Recommendation

Environment

Choose a quiet space to ensure clear audio. Background noise, especially conversations, can disrupt the recording and affect the accuracy of transcription.

Laptop, Phone, Tablet Setup

Place your device as close to yourself and your patient as possible. Keep the device unlocked or open and positioned toward the conversation. Monitor the mic volume to ensure it’s capturing the dialogue.

Screen Lock

Certain devices may lock the screen automatically, which could disrupt the audio capture. Make sure your screen stays active to ensure uninterrupted recording. If the recording pauses, simply resume it.

Headphone Setup

To use headphones or headsets, make sure to turn on the 'Use Headphones' toggle, which will turn green when enabled. Then, click Start Session and select the correct tab, entire screen, or window to begin.

Telehealth Setup

Open your telehealth platform in one window and Berries in another. In some setups, echo cancellation may prevent Berries from recording the patient’s side, so consider using a second device (like a smartphone) for the audio.

Phone Call Sessions

To capture audio from a phone call, use Berries on a secondary device, like a tablet or computer, and place the call on speaker mode to ensure proper recording.

Microphone Setup

After clicking Start session, you can select a different microphone by clicking the microphone dropdown.

External Mic Setup

Position your external microphone as close as possible to both you and your patient, ensuring it is directed towards the conversation. Monitor the microphone’s volume to verify it is effectively capturing the audio.

Microphone Access for Chrome, Edge, and Safari

To ensure the best experience with Berries, we recommend using Google Chrome. Additionally, please note that headphone mode is only available through Chrome for the best audio experience. However, you can also use Edge or Safari depending on your preference. Here's how to grant microphone access for each browser.
